Working Away
It was another busy day today. As usual I got up early and got to work. I've got loads to do between keeping up with the forums, updating our wiki, and putting together to docs we're working from. Darek (my junior programmer) started going down the ToDo list today. He sent me a build highlighting some of the things he's accomplished. It's looking good. I really have high hopes for this game and I'm very impressed with Darek's work.
Around 10AM Dilian and I headed into town. He had a few things to take care of and wanted me to talk to a friend of his who has started a small car dealership. I took a few pictures on the ride into town.
Having talked to the car dealer I found out that almost no one in Dominica leases cars. They rent them by the day (for say EC$150.00) or sell them. However, a lot of people will basically owner finance. They have you put down a deposit, then you pay month by month. Once the payoff is less than the deposit you can use the deposit to pay off the car. It's not a bad system, but I would rather just save up. Either way, while we were in town I took a few more pictures.
That's a trolley that carries tourists around. It was the first time I had seen it. Anyways, I took a few more photos around town before I headed back home.
Once I got back it was time to start my Civ 5 work. I played it for a couple of hours and then did a little more e-mail work to keep Darek moving forward. Around 3PM the kids (mainly Caleb) wanted to go take a sea bath. Rachel and I took most of them. We left Isaac (who was sleeping) and Titus with Ben. It started raining real good just as we got there.
It was a long day, but makes for a short story. I'm thinking about working on editing some of the videos I took when we first got here. Once I start putting the videos up I'll start taking more. So, I really need to do it. I also want to start putting together a Dominican price guide. I want to start tracking prices in a spreadsheet, where we got things from and what we paid for them. It's the kind of thing I would have loved to have glanced at before we headed down here.
Either way, that's it for tonight. Good night from Dominica!

Sorry about you not finding a car. Maybe it won't be too long. Looking forward to your videos! Love y'all!
ReplyDeleteWe'll get a car when it's the right time. The Lord is leading us :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll enjoy the videos when I finally get around to getting them up.
