Moving Right Along

Last night was fairly cool and, thank the Lord, today has been as well. I awoke well rested and looking forward to getting things done. Solomon said that if you're happy in your work you're happy indeed. That's a fact. I really love what I do for a living. I also love my wife and children, family and friends, and the place I live. All in all I have a very blessed life and I thank God for it!

My morning routine was the norm. I had a small pile of e-mail to go through which was enlarged by the fact that Leszek (WoM's producer) was back from his short vacation. I also had a fair amount of forum and wiki work to do as well as waging my continuing war on game documents. Everything went very well and so, as usual, I went for a short walk. I wanted to explore that road I hadn't been down yet. It was fairly interesting, but my walk was a bit further than I had planned. I was gone for right around an hour.

When I came up on the no trespassing sign I decided I had gone far enough. I'm not sure if the sign applied to the road or the property beside it, but either way I had gone far enough for the day.

The above is a Coco pod. If it had been two feet closer to the road it would have come home with me. I want to try to make my own milk chocolate at some point. (Of course, I'll need to get more milk...) When I got back to the house Felicity had something to show me.

That was her pet millipede “Ray”. After a few minutes we convinced her to put him outside so he could get something to eat. It wasn't long before it was time to head to the sea. (I cut the Civ 5 short today. I had other things on my mind.)

It was cloudy and cool and we decided not to stay long at all. I wanted to take a different route home just to give you guys another view of the place. On the way I ran into a real rarity here.

Believe it or not that's mowed grass. It's a rare commodity in Dominica :)

As we walked out of the graveyard we ran into Brother Freddy. It was lucky because I needed to talk to him about picking the boys up at the airport July 14th. He assured me it would be no problem that we would just need to work out the details. We have almost a moth to do that, so no worries :)

After I got home I started playing around with my maze generation code. It went well and in very little time I had Unity creating randomly generated 3D mazes. I stopped for a while to play World of Tanks, but finally felt the code calling me again. I got some textures added to the floor and walls and put a controller on the camera so I could run it around the maze. So far, so good. Next I plan to add a little mini-map. At the moment this is all just hobby level concept code, but in the long run I may do something with it.

One thing I was asked to mention is that more of you guys can leave comments. If you don't know how you just have to sign in to Google (you should see a “Sign In” button/link in the upper left. If you don't have an account you'll be able to make one. It's free and useful, so you might as well. Once you're logged in you should be able to comment away.

On another note: everyday we get more comfortable here and I, for one, am really looking forward to having guests. (At least once I get this game done and can take some time off.) This place is really amazing and I want other people to get to see it with us. Anyways, I'm sure it will happen in the Lord's good time. The TV is calling :) So, good night from Dominica!

  1. The kids sure looked serious walking through the graveyard. Loved the pics and can hardly wait to start scrapbooking with my new program. I've "played" with it until I can barely see----lol. Gabriel and Alec can hardly wait until they get there! Glad you ran into Bro. Freddy!

    1. I think the "serious" had a bit to do with "cold", lol. It's not common that you get cold down here, but you can if you try :)

And, yes, running into Brother Freddy was fortunate. He's been working so much that he hasn't been at Church the last couple of Sundays.

  2. Good photos of the kids and where were Ben and Isaac? Also interesting that there are some places with no trespassing signs. The cocoa looked interesting so hope you can locate one by the road soon. Going off to bed soon now I am tired

    1. Ben was home playing video games and Isaac was asleep.

No trespassing signs seem to rather rare, but they've got them here like anywhere else, lol.

I hope to run up on a Coco pod I can take soon. We've had a couple given to us, but I want to get my own :)
