The Rain Is Cool

Last night we crawled into bed listening to Harry Belafonte songs on Rachel's phone. We were trying to drown out the loud, drumming, not-so-Caribbean music one of the neighbors had cranked up to “floor shaking”. The results were mixed, lol. Of course, right around 9:30 they turned it off, so we fell asleep in the relative quiet of countless frogs chirping.

I woke up at 6AM, Rachel having set the phone's alarm for me. My horn-honking-listening method of waking up isn't regular enough to suite me. It turns out I really do prefer having an alarm get me up. I got to work basically right away and for the next four hours sat at my computer typing away. I'm glad to say that things went well and I got a lot done today. I hope to maintain the pace throughout the week.

Anyway, it had been raining on and off throughout the morning.

Personally, I love it. It lowers the temperature somewhere between five and ten degrees which is fairly close to perfect. It did, however, have the side effect of delaying my morning walk. When I did go I kept it short. It had really poured a couple a times and I didn't want to get caught in it.

This place really is very pretty. There are flowers and beautiful plants everywhere.

By the time I got back Rachel had cooked brunch. I ate at my computer once again typing away. I stopped for a couple hours to play Civilization 5. I just got it last night. Believe it or not playing it is part of my job. It's similar in some ways to Worlds of Magic. It was product research and actually recommended by my producer. I love my job :)

During her washing today Rachel found a little something.

That's a centipede and you don't want one to bite you. As best she can tell it was in some of the bed sheets. We've got to get some bug spray.

A little later in the day the kids got a mango that had just fallen off the tree. It was rolling down the road when they snagged it. They're the best when they've fallen off the trees all by themselves. The kids love em.

A little after my day end Mom E. called. They were having some network problems. It turned out to be problematic even for me. It took me close to two hours to get them fixed up, but I finally did, thank the Lord. After that the kids wanted to go to the sea, so we did. It was still cloudy, but it had stopped raining. Admittedly, it was a little cooler than we were used to so we didn't stay long.

The small storm front actually gave the kids some waves to play on. The largest was probably 2 ½ feet tall or so. Still, for them it was awesome.

Once again, I've gotten to my blog early. I'm tired and ready to call it a night. Getting back on schedule is great, as is getting work done. It does wear you out though, lol. So, for the time being, good night from Dominica!
