This is going to be another post where I talk a lot and just jam pictures in to keep it from being boring. I did want to point out that I know that Abby had covered Libby's face in one pic and then stepped behind her in the next shot. The girls can be hard to take pictures of sometimes. They like to move around while you're doing it, lol.
In any event, my work continued today, but not as much as normal. The sad fact is that I was just worn out. I'm still fighting with Rachel's laptop and I've been working non-stop for weeks. I plan to get back at it tomorrow. But today was a “light day” for me anyway you look at it.
On the other hand it was a very different day for Alec. I gave the boys a little talk last night about growing up, working, and helping the family. They all nodded and said “Yes, Sir” a lot, but I wasn't sure how deep an impression I had made. Alec told me last night that he wanted me to get him up at seven. So, this morning right around 7AM I woke him up. He goofed around for about half an hour and then told me he wanted to put in eight hours work. He wanted to work like a man.
I wasn't sure he would stay the course, but I decided to get him started. First he cleaned the kitchen and washed all the dishes from last night. Once that was done he wanted more work. Well, I told him to cook breakfast since his Aunt wasn't feeling good. He made up a quadruple batch of batter and stood in the kitchen for an hour and a half cooking pancakes.
Once he was done with that he started cleaning. He swept and mopped the kitchen and then moved on to the living room. While he was doing that I walked to our little country store to pick up a few things including sodas as a treat. By the time I got back he had the living room taken care of and wanted more work. Breakfast was all eaten so I had him wash the dishes, sweep and mop the hall, and clean of the kitchen counters again. He's been at it eight hours and I'm going to stop now to go pat him on the back. He's done a man's worth today :)
So, he finished up his day and he and I watched the last episode of a Dr. Who story we had been watching. He had worked long enough that I didn't want to make him wait until I had finished my blog to slip into “relaxation mode”, lol. I don't think he'll be up to another eight hours work tomorrow, but you have to start somewhere.
I'm going to stop here because I need to cook dinner (Rachel's still not feeling great) and I want to make some bread. I also have Ubuntu (it's kind of like windows) installing on a thumb drive. I'm hoping Rachel can use it on her laptop until I get her hard drive fixed up. As always, we're wishing you a very good night from Dominica!
Good Man Alec!
ReplyDeleteIndeed!
DeleteYes, way to go Alec! Enjoyed the pics too. Hope Rachel's computer gets up and running soon. Maybe Ben and Gabriel will have helped you with supper by the time you read this. Hope Rachel will feel better by tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLove you all,
Mom E.
Yes, I'm proud of Alec. I am still fighting Rachel's computer and no, they didn't help me make dinner, lol.
DeleteI would think Alec should get more than a well deserved pat on the back for doing all that work. Like 2 sodas or $$$$ per hour. Anyway I am proud of you Alec for helping do all that work when Rachel wasn't feeling good. The pictures of the kids were good and no idea why Abby was hiding behind Libby. Also so glad there is a store close enough for you to walk to when you need something that is so good or helpful there. Love and hugs to every body.
ReplyDeleteYes, we thank the Lord for the store. If only we had known about it before we ate the strange cakes, lol.
DeleteYes, but then I wouldn't still be laughing about the strange cakes episode!
