A Whole Lot Of Work

Once again today we didn't get to make our trip to town. Just as we went to bed Libby got sick. Ben followed her at about 3AM. I'm beginning to wonder if it's going to have to go through the entire family before it stops. At least if it does we're getting close to the end. Of course, Rachel hasn't had it yet and it's going to be killer if she gets it. Lord willing, she won't.

I have spent the day working almost non-stop. It looks like that's how it's going to be for the next few days. In fact, that could stretch into weeks, but there's not a lot I can do about it, lol. We're working on a demo for WoM and there's a great deal that needs to be done before it's ready. The dev team is hopping and as the lead developer I have to hop way out in front.

For the most part the day went very well and I got a great deal done. However, right at the end of the day I ran into a bug. It's a minor thing for the moment, but it's very very frustrating... Anyways, this blog is going to be short because I've still got a whole lot to do tonight :)

I think I'll just walk you through my non-work photos from today. First there's the bakes we had this morning and some of the kids standing around.

Felicity found a crab which had been washed down into our driveway by all the rain. (Our water tanks are overflowing, thank the Lord. I can't help but think “My cistern runneth over.”)

Later Caleb, Felicity, and I went to see how high the rain had made the stream. It's hard to tell, but “high” covers it.

Gabriel and I took a walk down to the bridge a little later. That gray pipe was the rail.

Believe it or not that's all I have time for now. So, goodnight from Dominica!

  1. So had the water been over the bridge and knowcked the rail off or some other problem put it on the ground below the bridge? Going to go watch Jeopardy soon and need to fill the dishwasher before it comes on. Bye for now.

    1. The water is about twenty feet below the bridge. I was standing on the bridge, Gabriel was on the riverbank near the river. Freddy's bus knocked the rail down. That was the bridge they almost fell off of.

  2. I'm surprised that Freddy will ever come back---lol! That had to be VERY scary! Thank God he was safe! I hope you all get over the virus soon! Also glad that your "cistern runneth over". Boy, it'as a long way down from that bridge. Thanks for the pics and hope the work gets caught up quickly!
    Love you all,
    Mom

    1. I was working until a little after 8PM, but things are going well. The virus didn't strike last night, so Lord willing it's finally finished with us. And, although I feel certain Freddy will be back, I'm not sure he'll come down the driveway, lol.

  4. How is Freddy and when does he expect to get his bus back on the road? What might the repair shops be like there?

You wrote that he almost did not stop when entering your yard and then crashed when leaving. So I assume he had mechanical problems and not road problems. Even so,is it difficult to drive into your yard?

Is the bridge part of the property or government owned?

Why is your clan on a starvation diet as you have written in earlier blogs?

    1. Freddy is fine. I don't know how his bus is. It was supposed to go in the shop yesterday.

It's not difficult to get into the yard, it was just a matter of two different problems on two different days.

The bridge is on the property.

We don't have a fridge at the moment, hence no meat. Plus we just moved into a new house which took a month's advance rent and a two month deposit. On top of that we had to file for our extensions and that cost us a little over EC$2400.00 (We have a lot of kids, lol). Next month we should have enough to get a fridge. Then we'll be back in meat! Still, we managed to get to town today, but that's kinda the focus of my upcoming post :)
