Head In The Clouds
First, I want say that I didn't get pictures of the kids again today. I am really going to try to make an effort tomorrow to remember to take some. The day just flew away again. If anyone was watching me they certainly wouldn't have thought I was working. Early in the morning I went for a short walk that became a long walk. In fact I walked up to the roundabout (almost anyways, I could see it from where I stopped). I was thinking and walking, walking and thinking as I often do. I'm kind of ahead of the rest of the team with the WoM development. For the most part I just let them know what needs to be done and crunch the numbers that are going to be used. Then the rest of the team draw up the art, make up the models, and write up the code.
Just jamming in pictures :)
Well, I've handed them a lot to do and with Gamescom going on not a lot is going to get added this week (more than likely anyway). So, I had a little time on my hands for thinking. As I've said time and time again, a lot of game dev is doing just that. While I was wandering about I mapped out some of my future game design in my head. Then I headed back into the house to check my e-mail and handle a bit of forums work.
The day turned out very nice so I decided a walk in the other direction was justified. I walked about a mile that way considering all the “Stretch Goals” we might propose for our second Kickstarter campaign. I came up with a fairly long list that I think will impress our ever growing fan base. I'm writing up all my ideas in a doc that I can share with Les and the guys once Gamescom is over.
I bought some corn-beef while I was out and Rachel cooked it up with some boiled potatoes to make corn-beef hash. It was very good and we had rice and cornbread to go with it. :)
Anyways, after I was back I made some phone calls. I had some ideas I wanted to bounce of off two of the most avid gamers I know. I talked to Joey Miller and Sam McDowell for over an hour combined. In the main they liked where I was coming from. Some of my ideas are going to need a little tweaking, but that's OK. If this game is as big a success as I'm hoping it will be I'm going to be able to put together a dev team of my own that works on game design rather than coding. It will be a perfect match with Wastelands Interactive. Lucid Dreamers (my company) can design games and then hand them over to WI for development. Everybody will win :)
That's been my last few days. Working and thinking about work, lol. Still, the scenery's lovely and it's a pleasure just to be thinking in a place like this. I wish you could all see it. Until you can I hope you enjoy seeing it through the eyes of my camera. I'm no photographer, but I've been working on it, lol.
Either way, for the moment I must bid you all fare well. There is TV to be watched and relaxing to be done. I know that some of you are counting down the days until you join us here and others are counting down the days until we join you there. Rest assured, we're counting down the days to both and that we are all wishing you a very good night from Dominica!

Glad things are going well on the game. Yes, the pics are beautiful and I can barely stand it until I can see the island for myself. Still, tomorrow, try to make time for pics of the kids. Line them all up in front of the house or something, if necessary, to get one pic of all of them. lol Or find a pretty spot in the yard and get them all photographed in one fell swoop. Tell them if they will give you one "good" picture, that they can make faces and do crazy stuff in the other one. Daddy and I have a big day planned tomorrow starting with a Dr.'s appt. at 8 a.m. and I am NOT a morning person----ugggh.
ReplyDeleteLove you all,
Mom E.
I hope everything goes well at the Dr.'s office. I will try to take some pictures of the kids today :)
