Half Day
Today has gone very well so far. I was able to get up and crawl into my normal routine without fighting Internet problems or running into anything bizarre. I managed to get in touch with Leszek yesterday and found out that he had been waiting patiently to hear from me. He knew I'd been having Internet trouble so when I disappeared for a few days he didn't get too worked up about it. With the Internet speed back up I managed to make a few phone calls, which was very nice. We don't like being cut off from home. Of course, I guess no one does, lol.
For whatever reason I am really worn out today. I think it's just a matter of having had such a rough week combined with the insomnia from the other night. For the most part I've felt great since I got here. My current fatigue is one of the reasons I decided to do my post so early. I want to call it a day and get a few hours gaming in. I've been doing as much work as I reasonably could and I've worked through several weekends. In fact, I'm really going to have to work tomorrow as well. There are some things that need to be done with the D20 system and I can't be away from the Worlds of Magic forums for too long.
The kids have been having a good time in the main. They're counting down the days until Grandma and Grandaddy get here and until we head back to the US, but they really are enjoying the time they have left here. Libby was talking to me this morning. She said that she really wanted to go back to the US when we first got here, but that now she really likes it here and is going to miss it. I told her not to worry that we planned to come back before too long. She was easy to console. She misses all her grandparents, so going back has a real appeal no matter how she feels about this place.
Now that we're back on the Internet and only have a few more weeks to spend here I'm planning to do my best to settle into a very relaxed routine. I have a lot of work to get done, but I want to enjoy Dominica while I can. More than likely we'll be gone for 15 months before we end up back here. When we do come back I plan to have made much better arrangements. We had no way of knowing what we would want or need the first time. The next time we're going to know exactly what we want and need. (The last picture is Felicity's toe. She tied a string to it and wanted me to take a picture.)
In reality, I'd like to get a boat or even a plane before we come back. We have a large family and there are a lot of things I'd rather haul myself than pay shipping for. It doesn't take a whole lot of plane tickets and shipping charges before buying a boat is a cheaper option. Still, if I can get the money I'd rather get the plane. If we had our own plane we could go back to the US for the weekend if we wanted to. On the other hand, as we only plan to stay in Dominica three months out of the year it would probably never come up.
Either way, that's it for tonight. I'm tired and could really use a good goof off. So, as always, goodnight from Dominica!

I enjoyed the landscape pics, but would liked to have seen more of Felicity than just her toe with a string tied around it-----lol. Still, she made me laugh! It's getting closer and closer to our visit. I'm having a hard time deciding what to bring. I know y'all want us to bring as little as possible so that we can help bring stuff home, but this IS our vacation. (Rachel has a list of what she's wanting me to bring when we come.) We'll get it figured out.
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Mom E.
As you know by now, you'll be seeing us a lot sooner than you thought when posted that (Lord willing). We should be flying out of San Juan at 5AM tomorrow :)
DeleteOK I have to agree with Barbara it would have been nice to have seen a bit more of Felicity like maybe up to her knees. haha Tell her it is for Granny anyway. In fact we would even like to see a little smile from her. When we say we want to see pictures of a kid we don't mean the goat. At least it looked like a goat. Is it a wild goat as it doesn't appear to be in a pen of any sort. Also be sure to check her toe as she can cut the circulation off and cause a big problem if the string is on there to tight. I talked to Steve and he will check into getting time off work maybe to come to get you guys. We will see how that works out.
ReplyDeleteYou should be seeing all of the children between 8 and 9AM tomorrow. That was a goat. Her toe is fine. She is our fifth child out of seven. Amazingly she wasn't the first one to ever tie anything around a body part :)
DeleteWhat town was picture 15 of the Friday blog?
ReplyDeleteThat was Scotts Head. That picture could be used for postcards couldn't it :)
DeleteCheck out used Mitsubishi MU-2. They are beautiful aircraft but even at 40 years of age still cost half a million or more. Only CEO's, spending company/tax money, can afford jets
ReplyDeleteBoats are freedom.
We need to invent an inexpensive flying boat, lol.
