Nibbling Up The Time
Today has been eaten away one tiny bite at a time. First, there's my war with Rachel's laptop. The hard drive is in bad shape and, up to this point, I've been unable to fix it. I've tried I don't know how many (literally) Linux distributions today trying to find one that will work well on her netbook running off a thumb drive. I feel I've gotten closer and closer, but as the man said “no cigar”. Lord willing, I'm about to have a break through. If I were back home I would have ordered a new drive days ago and she would be back up and running already. For a family as involved with technology as ours is shipping in spare parts is an absolute must for living in Dominica. I intend to send a barrel full of parts down here before we come back.
Yep... I'm just jamming pictures in. The day evaporated and I haven't taken any pictures of the kids. I'll try to do more of that tomorrow.
Anyways, the second great time eater today was the Worlds of Magic website. Later this evening (after midnight GMT) we're putting up a new batch of screenshots that are being showcased at Gamescom. I figured it would only take me a few minutes, but I wanted to change the way some of the images were loaded to speed the site up. We support eight languages and so I had to change eight different sets of pages. It wasn't difficult, but it did prove time consuming. Still, it will be worth it when we can show the new artwork to the world. If your curious you can check it out here: Worlds of Magic - Media (Remember, the new pictures won't be up until around 9PM EST.)
For the rest of the family the day was... well... I'm not really sure. I know the boys slept until late in the day (Ben got up at 4PM), but I was up in my room working away. Whatever the girls were doing they were quiet about it. Isaac and Felicity came in a few times and I heard Caleb watching TV down stairs. Still, I appreciate the fact that I get to work at home even if I don't always get a lot of interaction with my kids, lol.
As I said, my day has been nibbled away. I'm going to run for the moment. I may have more to tell tomorrow. So, as always, good night from Dominica!

Missed seeing pics of the kids, but I did get to talk to Caleb on the phone today. I had a non-productive(lazy)day today, but have planned out what I hope to accomplish tomorrow. Hope you have a good evening and everyone sleeps well. Ben must have stayed up all night last night!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Mom E.
Ben had stayed up late, lol. We had a good day yesterday and today is looking good. Although Rachel's Hard Drive seems to have completely died.
DeleteWhat have the temperatures been like at the new address? Is there a town further up the mountain road you are on? How many people are there in Pond Casse? How far to Roseau?
ReplyDeleteI would say the temperature ranges from 65 to 80 or so (maybe 85 in the hottest part of the day, but it doesn't last and you only feel it if you're walking down the road).
DeleteWe are in the middle of the road between Roseau and Marigot. You can get to either in about 30 to 45 minutes, but they are the closest "towns".
There are a fair number of people living in the area. The community is just more stretched out because people can build houses right by the country's major highway :)
