It's been another day of working and relaxing. I'm slowly getting things under control. It won't be long and we'll have a full blown Alpha version of the game ready for testing. We're going to start with a very small group of testers and then slowly bring in more and more people as we tweak features and crunch numbers. It's beginning to look truly awesome.
So much of the “feel” of a game is in the little graphic details that set the mood and pull you into a fantasy world. The numbers are what make a game great and solid and that's what I work on, but the art is what makes a game look like a game and that's way out of my league. I wish I could show you guys some of what's going on in the background right now. You don't have to know anything about games to appreciate art. Sadly, I can't really share anything right now. We're keeping a lid on things until Gamescom next week. We're hoping to make a hit with the press. You can all keep us in your prayers :)
Early this morning I went out to buy some fresh fruit. Rachel wanted to go with me even though it was a bit of a walk.
You probably can't tell, but there are two blues in that horizon. The lower one is the Caribbean Sea (or the Atlantic Ocean... I didn't have a compass on me).
Isaac was just about asleep by the time we got back. After we returned I got my work for the day “done”. That is to say that I got as far as I could without getting feedback. I'm working on a section of the game that one of our backers is helping us create. I have to submit things to him and get his opinion before I move on. It's proving to be a very enjoyable process for all involved. :)
Shortly after I was finished I went for another little walk. This time I started by going down the trail that runs through the yard. Well, really I started in the house, but I was sure you'd recognize that bit.
After I got back Rachel and Alec cooked tortillas with rice, lentils, and homemade guacamole. They were excellent! Everyone dug into them and then we has fresh watermelon for desert.
Also, as the picture makes plain, we got a visit from Josian and Jemma (and, yes, Michelle came along with them). It was very good to see them! They're still here as I sit working on this. It may seem rude of me, but they know how much I have to do and how important the blog is. It's not the first time they've been talking with Rachel while I was typing away in another room, lol.
Either way, it's Saturday and I still haven't gotten to see the new Gamers movie. I'm tired and ready for a rest. Of course, I'm very well fed and that's a good start, lol. Still, it's time to wrap this up for the night. So, goodnight from Dominica!
Great pics tonight. Supper looked delicious and the kids sure loved the watermelon. I'd written much more but hit a wrong key and deleted most of it. I need to figure out what the bottom row of keys do. We did not have them when I learned to type. I think it's one of those keys I hit sometimes that delete some things or send me into cyber space sometimes. I guess I should go to my word pad and play with those keys to figure out what they do. There's a top row of keys that I only know what a few of them do. I'm afraid of them until I KNOW what they do--lol.
ReplyDeleteLove you all and hope to see you all soon.
Mom E.
I'm glad you liked the pictures. Just keep working away and I'm sure you'll figure out more and more with your laptop :)
DeleteThe photos were really good of everyone today. I see the old dog crate in the picture and I think I remember you saying your chickens go in there at night. Dad said I have another hen setting out there. The water melon looks really good but when I buy one I have to eat the whole thing myself. Dad is no help. I still love those pjs Felicity is wearing so glad she likes them to. Got to go check on some stuff before it gets to dark and walk the dogs.
ReplyDeleteSee you guys soon...Love ya MOM
The chickens are supposed to sleep in the dog crate. In practice they basically sleep wherever they want.
DeleteSoon you'll have plenty of grandchildren at home to help you eat your watermelon, lol.
