Work And Rest
Today has been a day of work and rest. There was more work than I wanted, but it was all in a good cause and it accomplished a bit. That makes it worth while. Still, I'm hoping that tomorrow I can get a bit more time to relax. Of course, in real life I doubt that's going to happen. We're going to Church in Williston and when I get home it will be time to write the KS update. All that takes time. I'll still probably be able to wrap up around 3PM. Once this campaign is finished I plan to have a “Do Nothing” day where I do as much nothing as I can cram in. I may not even play any games, I may just try to lay there and watch TV.
Of course, it's not just been Kickstarter work that's kept me busy. As I mentioned last night the solid state hard drives arrived yesterday. I started setting one of them up on the broken E-Machine shortly after my post. My life is often a comedy of errors. I'm sure I've mentioned that before. Well, last night I started to setup Windows XP on the E-Machine. As it turns out it can only use SATA drives. All the CD drives I had here were IDE. I figured I would trick it and start the install on another machine and then put the hard drive in the E-Machine. No go... It just crashed. So I had to take the Windows XP CD and make an ISO image of it and then burn that image to a USB drive and then boot off the USB drive to start the install. Thank the Lord that worked flawlessly and before we went to bed we were watching Netflix on the E-Machine again.
When I got up this morning the fan in my power supply refused to spin. That means the computer will run for a little while before it overheats and shuts down. So I had to pull the power supply out, open it up, take the fan out, and spray a little penetrating oil down in it first thing in the morning. That seemed to work thank God, so I was able to start work about half an hour after I got up. I handled my e-mail, sent off a book submission, and handled a bit of the forums work before I went for a short walk down to our little local shopping center. I needed some air and some rest, lol.
Once I got back I picked up work on the KS and started working to get the solid state drive into Rachel's laptop. It also gave me trouble. The drive would show up in the BIOS, but then windows wouldn't see it when the install started. I played around in the BIOS and changed one of the SATA settings and it started working. It took me a few hours to finish up, but Rachel is finally able to use her laptop again. We may eventually get the restore CDs so she can run Windows 7 again, but we have plenty of copies of XP and she likes it, so we may just leave it as is.
As you probably noticed from the screenshot we've manage to raise over $8,000 in just over 48 hours. We're really hoping to hit the 50K mark before the end. That would be a fairly massive success and might very well attract some more main stream media attention. It would also allow us to dump a lot into artwork, obviously, and that would be very good for the game. The fans have been very supportive of what we're doing and many of those that backed us the first time have returned to back us again. (I think we've had more than 200 of them back us a second time.) Needless to say this makes us feel like we're doing things right.
I also got the drain pump pulled out of the washing machine today. I had to hacksaw the head off a stuck screw to do it, but I finally got it. It looks like the pump may be burned out. I plan to take it to Church tomorrow and see if Dad can't hot wire it to see if it's actually broken. If it is we'll just have to buy a new one...
That's all I've got for tonight. I hope you guys enjoyed the pictures. I'm about to go watch some TV in between checking for comments on the KS page. So, for the moment, goodnight from South Carolina!

Hey guys, hope you all are doing fine...Hope Titus is doing much better.
ReplyDeleteI'm not feeling 100% this morning. I have a sinus headache... Either way, Titus does seem to be doing better. He's probably going to have to go in for a checkup this week though.
