Wrapping Up The Week

Well, it's Friday once again and I, for one, am very happy about it. This week was interesting and had many moments of fun and a few of excitement. Still, all things considered I'm ready for a rest. Sunday is more than likely going to be a very busy day. We have Church, obviously, (in fact, I'm supposed to head up Bible class) and then we have to head to the airport to pick up the boys. Saturday I plan to take it easy. Ben just found a new online game for he and I to play, so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to do with the day.

Anyways, I woke up with the alarm today. It took me a while to fall asleep last night (I think mainly due to the heat) and I woke up several times during the night. Either way, when it was time to get up I got up, lol.

I slid right into work and got some forums posting done along with a little wiki work. Next week I plan to get back on the D20 System and make sure it's serviceable before I let anything else distract me. It should really only take me a few days. It's very close even now.

After I got what I felt was “enough” done for the morning shift I went for a bit of a walk. I picked up the national trail where Caleb and I had left off yesterday. I thought I knew where it went, but I wanted to make sure. As I headed out I noticed Caleb and Isaac playing in the back yard.

After I got those shots of them I was on my way.

I starter with a couple more shots of that crane. Apparently he's hanging out around there for the time being. I also got a good shot of a large ants' nest and a pretty little moss covered wall. After that I was back on the trail.

There are places to rest all along it.

I thought I had missed the turn right after the pig. I ended up in the back yard of a man I know who lives between Soufriere and Gallion. After a short walk back up the road I found proof that I had, in fact, turned off the main trail.

On the way back the camera was acting really weird. Something had happened to the LCD's contrast. Thank God it worked itself out later in the day. The pictures below I took with a malfunctioning camera.

As I got closer to home I saw a tree down in another man's yard (who I know, though his name escapes me at the moment). It was an old tree. I felt bad that he lost it. Still, it could have been worse. You don't want a tree that size falling on anything.

I also took one last shot of Soufriere as I was looking down on it. The picture didn't turn out great, but here it is:

By the time I got back I decided to call it an early day. I just wasn't feeling up to work. Rachel was also a little burned out today. It may be because of the heat since the storm. There's been a noticeable increase. Things will be a lot cooler when we get to Pont Casse. Either way, next week I plan to hit work with a will and get a lot knocked out of the park!

While I was sitting there not quite working the man whose field I had wandered through dropped by offering to sell us a couple of farm fresh cucumbers for EC$2.00. Rachel bought them immediately. Then she took pictures.

Once again we went to the sea in the early afternoon.

As you can see some of the locals were down there putting boats back in the water. It's going to be “business as usual” next week.

You may have noticed that I'm getting this post up late. That's because Ben and I were playing that game together. As a result I'm even more tired and ready for TV than usual, lol. So, good night from Dominica!

  1. I'm at Sharon and Ralph's and relaxing. I'm sooooo happy to have internet here so I could read your blog. Daddy (and Gabriel) were actually glad I left this morning because I get soooo nervous it drives them crazy. I'm more relaxed than I have been in 3 months! Please take pics of the boys' plane coming in and landing if you can. Also pics of them finally seeing you, etc. This is all soooooo exciting. Love you, Mom

  2. You could take video of the boys arrival and I hope it will be at least 2 or 3 minutes long. I am sure you are all excited about them coming and hope Rachel will remember to try to call and give the shipping company a local number to reach you WHEN the barrel does arrive. i had so hoped it woud be there quickly.

The barrel should be here before long. I think the shipping company has our cell phone number.
