Raining Mangoes
I woke up a little late today. Mainly it was do to the fact that the cell phone that's my alarm clock was turned off. I was laying in bed surprised that the alarm hadn't gone off for a while. By the time I actually got up it was 7AM. I didn't let it worry me. I just jumped into my work with a will. I'm glad to say I got a lot done.
By early afternoon I decided to take a walk and see how much damage the storm had actually caused. The fact of the matter is that it was minimal. One thing I did notice, however, was that the ground was even more strewn with mangoes than usual. You can probably tell by some of these pictures.
After I got back I started working on the A Star asset my maze generator is going to use. Now, some of you may be wondering why I waste time coding things that aren't my game when I've got a game to program. Well, there are a few reasons really. The first is that I work on the maze generator during my “fun time”. It may seem odd, but it really helps my mind rest to work on something different for a while. Second, it's so different from what I'm working on with WoM that I'm forced to learn new things. Some of those new things later end up in my WoM coding. In fact I've stumbled on things that I might have completely overlooked if not for the maze generator. Third, these assets can be used in game after game. We might not need a maze generator for WoM now, but we might want one in future. If I have one sitting on the shelf we can just pop it in place. Forth, it will help Lucid Dreamers (my game dev company) build a name. So, don't think that I sit around goofing off when I should be working. It's just that when I'm done with work I often work on something else to rest :)
Anyways, later in the afternoon something special happened. At least, it's special around here.
The kids were crazy about the tattoos. Needless to say they put them on right away.
Once they were all tattooed up they wanted to head to the sea. As usual I took them.
It's hard to tell, but the storm changed the shore a bit. That sandy patch above was covered with rocks day before yesterday. I also found a dead squid washed up on the bank.
After we got back I played video games until it was time to blog. It's getting closer and closer to Gabriel and Alec's touch down day and we're getting excited. Our barrel is also due to arrive any day now and that is also exciting.
Well, I'm going to call it here. I got a great deal done today and I'm ready to watch some TV soon, lol. So, goodnight from Dominica!

Did you pick up as many mangoes as you could carry home? I would have rather than let them rot. The video of them getting the letter from Granny was just too cute and the tattoo pics are so cute! I even liked the dead squid picture too---lol. Gabriel packed one of his bags tonight---the big one that will be checked. It weighed in at at 49 lbs! He's very excited now, but also getting nervous about actually flying. I mean the days are literally flying by now! Love you all, Mom E.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't go collect mangoes, but the Bellots did. It's one of the things to do after a storm around here, lol.
DeleteI'm sure the boys are getting excited. In four days (including today) they should be here :)
I am so glad you got another letter and had fun putting onthe tattoos. I hope they didn't wash off in the sea. That squid thing was ugly. Guess there will be plenty of mangos for Libby to find on the ground now to bad they will not be ripe enough to eat. My love to all my little people. Granny
ReplyDeleteA lot of the mangoes were ripe actually. They have a wide range of "ripe". Some of the ones the blew down weren't ripe yet, but a lot of them were.
DeleteAnd yes, the kids loved the tattoos :)
Arrrg!
ReplyDeleteWell sure, lol.
