Barrel Day
It may not be a national holiday, but it was a big day for us. Our barrel arrived a few days ago and brother Freddy took Rachel and Alec to pick it up today.
Before Rachel got up I was already up and working away. There's a great deal to be done and everyday there's less time to do it in. Most of it is just creating, discussing, and collating information about the game. The remainder is code work I have to do. I work on the info side for four or five hours and then try to program for around two hours. I may end up having to work longer days as the game gets nearer to completion, but I'm trying to avoid that.
Of course, truth be told, most of you aren't interested in any of that. You want to know what happened with the barrel. Well, alright, why not, lol. Rachel headed out with Freddy, Alec, and Titus around 10AM. They had to ride into town to get a piece of paper to say you can pickup your barrel. The first office charged EC$35.00 for the “claim ticket”.
At the office of the place that actually stores to barrel we had to pay a little over EC$22.00 for something else. (We're not sure what...) Then we had to pay right at EC$200.00 in customs charges for what was in the barrel. Rachel also found out that she couldn't take Titus back with her, so Alec and Freddy had to watch him for her.
Once they were done they went by Flossie's to pick up more flour and sugar. Then they headed home. Brother Freddy got the barrel in the house for us. He's a hair bigger than I am :)
Once the barrel was in we opened it of course, lol.
Rachel also took a few pics of the kids enjoying what they'd gotten.
After I stopped work for the afternoon it was time for our trip to the sea.
I took the underwater camera, but it gave me trouble today. I found out after we got home that it could record video. So, I plan to make use of that feature soon :)
Those are sea urchins.
Once again it's late and we're burned out. So, goodnight from Dominica!

Another exciting thing. Granny and Grandma go tomorrow to apply for our passports! Yay!
ReplyDeleteWe're very excited about that as well :)
DeleteBetter than a treasure chest.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was for the kids, lol. I could use some doubloons though. If you come across any you can send them my way. Of course, the new shaving mug and my old brush and razor are GREATLY appreciated :)
DeleteEnjoyed seeing everyone having so much fun opening "the barrel". I think it is so nice you have the sea so close that you can just walk to it. Thanks again for this blog.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice having the sea so close. It's probably about two city blocks.
DeleteAnd I'm happy to do the blog. It keeps everybody posted :)
