A Hurricane's A Comin
Well, a tropical storm's a comin anyway. A lot of people asked us “What are you going to do when a Hurricane hits?” to which my reply was “Find the oldest Dominican I can and do whatever he does.” Before the end of the season we may find out just what that is. For the moment, however, it's just a matter of avoiding the sporadic rain and pulling boats up out of the water.
We were supposed to go to town today, but with the weather being what it was we decided not to. Even with avoiding the trip to town the day vanished. I did a lot of admin work for the game today. I didn't get any actual coding done, but I got a lot of “game” work done nonetheless.
As it happens I got up at around 5AM and started work shortly after. It was raining really good at the time. It kept up until around 10AM or so.
Even after that the rain was off and on. As I sat there working away the kids entertained themselves playing this game or that. Abby started making clothes for her littlest pet-shop toys out of some cloth we had around. They had a really good time with it.
Ben actually took a few minutes with Caleb and played Magic The Gathering.
Once I got done with my normal work I started working on the maze generator. I'm coding up a very simple version of the A* Pathfinder so I can highlight the solution to each generated maze. Once I've got that working I'll be able to start adding more generation algorithms. I'm hoping to have something to put up on the asset store in the next couple of weeks.
Either way by late afternoon I decided to take Caleb to the sea. The other kids as well, but mainly Caleb. He wouldn't be satisfied until he'd gone down there. So I took him.
Boats were pulled up on shore and the water was stirred up and murky. I don't think we stayed ten minutes. It was enough to make Caleb happy though, so it served it's purpose.
The day has once again vanished like smoke. Time seems to slip by more and more quickly. I'm looking forward to taking some time off after this game comes out. Maybe that will slow things down a bit, lol.
On a final note Rachel got a picture of sleeping babies to share with you.
Lord willing we'll make it to town tomorrow. I'll be able to tell you all about it then. For the moment, good night from Dominica!

I think you're supposed to be getting more rain tomorrow than you got today. That storm is coming in. Keep us posted. Love you all. Mom E.
