Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!

It's hard to believe, but this was our third Sunday in Dominica. It started very well with me getting up (having slept in a little) and getting my work done before it was time for Church. In fact, they know to come early to pick us up, so we actually made it to Church on time. Before I jump into those pictures I wanted to share this with you.

That's a picture of the moon coming up over the mountains. Libby has been counting down the days until she could see the full moon. Last night her patience was rewarded. It was far more beautiful than this camera is capable of capturing.

Anyway, sometime after 9AM we were all loaded into the bus and headed for Church. The driver actually had to make two trips to pick up all the members of the congregation. It made Dilian feel good to be preaching to a “two trip group”, but underlined the fact that I would really like my own bus. On the ride in I decided to stick the camera out the window and snap a few shots.

I also decided to take photos of some of the views available from atop the church building.

I followed that up with a few more shots.

Including taking a picture of a cashew fruit (the nut is that bit on the bottom) and mist coming over the mountains.

It was good that I took the pictures I did. For the first time since we got here we were “rained out”. I had meant to take the kids for a bit of an explore or at least take them back down to the sea. However, that mist that was coming in quickly became full blown rain clouds. It was pouring on and off all afternoon. So, we did what we do and watched TV on the internet and played video games. Abigail got to talk to her cousin Kayla on the phone for a while and even got to Skype with her. Abby is asleep ATM or I would ask her for more details. Rachel made chicken with noodles and dumplings for lunch. We all enjoyed it, especially Isaac.

Later in the evening I got in touch with Sam and Becky. We are all suppose to be playing the same online game soon. It will be nice to be spending time with them again. We've all been so busy that we've barely been able to talk over the last few months. For dinner Rachel made Mount Bake More. Our family just can't seem to get enough of them.

Now, it may not seem like all that much of a day, but I really enjoyed it. I've had a good time and been well fed. I look forward to awakening in a tropical paradise and working a job I love. Tomorrow afternoon I hope to play video games with my friends and then spend some quality time with my children. Each night before we go to bed Rachel and I get to spend some time together watching Andy Griffith or what have you. All in all, life is good and I thank God for it.

So, for the moment I'm signing off. Good night from Dominica!

  1. Thanks for taking the time to blog every day. It helps me feel y'all aren't so far away. I'm learning to download the pics I want, but still will need to email you with some questions. I'm afraid I've managed to get pictures stored "all over the place" again---hahaha
