I awoke after a good night's sleep and immediately jumped into my normal morning routine. That is to say, I brushed my teeth, got a cup of coffee, and started checking my e-mail. I really am getting more and more adjusted as the days go by. I awoke, not exactly with the Sun, but before 5:57, because that was the time on my computer's clock after I had booted it up. Once Rachel and some of the kids were up I snapped a couple of pictures of them just doing what they do.
I also took a number of pictures of the cloud cover that was rolling in this morning. It looked like we might get some rain. We did. In fact we got quite a bit. As a result it's been fairly cool :)
Rachel made peanut butter cookies for breakfast this morning. I'm not sure why it struck her as the perfect breakfast food. Either way, they turned out good. I did have to walk up to the Bellot's to borrow a baking dish, but it was worth it. I snapped a picture of some ripening bananas that I hadn't noticed until today.
I also took a shot of a catamaran that had sailed up near bubble beach. (I hope Uncle Grover is seeing all these.)
Later in the day Rachel, Josian, Libby, Abby, and the baby went to look at a property more up in the mountains that we were considering leasing. It turns out it's not for us, but Rachel took some very interesting pictures along the way. In fact, she plans to do her own post about it after my normal post. (This is probably going to result in my staying up late, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.) I will give you this preview image:
After they got home Rachel wanted to go soak at bubble beach for a while and rest her tired muscles. We left Ben watching the baby as well as Felicity and Isaac (who were both asleep). He was gald to be left out. He was spending time on his computer. When we got out of the warm water something happened that I wasn't sure would ever happen to me in Dominica. I got cold. Honest, real, genuine “I wish I had a jacket” cold.
I guess getting up out of warm water to stand in the wind and rain will make you cold no matter where you are. Also, Dominican rain is cold. It doesn't matter how hot it is outside, the rain is still cold. At least, that's what they say. I can tell you this much. It was cold tonight. In fact, it was so cool that when I went to rinse off in the shower outside the tap water felt warm. It was quite an experience.
Once again it's time to bring things to a close. It's been a rich and full day for us. I hope it's been one for you as well. Good night from Dominica!
Loved the pics of the clouds coming in. You know I ALWAYS love the pics of the kids. I couldn't tell what Rachel was doing with the kids in the first pic. They were all standing around her and it looks like she has a pouch in her hands. Be sure you give us the link to Rachel's blog----or will she just add to this blog? I wasn't sure what you meant. I thought it was a switch that you honestly got cold for the first time in Dominica. I had read that you should take a jacket or sweater and raincoat with you to Dominica----that the evenings can get cool---especially in the mountains. I guess even at the coast you need to be prepared! lol Anyway, goodnight from here and love you all. Oh, and I got to talk to Caleb on the phone for a good while this evening. He was so excited to tell me all about Bubble Beach. I miss my babies! Hope to see you all before too long.
ReplyDeleteRachel plans to do a post on my blog some time this morning. I think you will all like it and the pictures that go along with it :)
