A Rainy Afternoon

We had a bit of rain last night. As a result I was able to sleep under a sheet again last night. That made me very happy. I've still got a cough, but I think the herbs the Bellots gave me last night are helping. The rain continued and today has been rainy/cloudy. The locals don't seem to like it much, but it makes for a happy little Ethridge clan right now. Of course, there is often a price to pay. Dilian is now sick. Sad, but true. I was afraid he was going to catch it with as much time as we've been spending together. I hope it doesn't spread any further.

Rachel decided to give us a taste of home this morning. At least as much as is possible. She cooked scambled eggs and cut slices from a turkey ham to fry up. This revealed an interesting fact. Turkey ham tastes EXACLTY like Sizzlean, but it's much cheaper. So, we may end up having it for breakfast from time to time. It's even cheaper than normal bacon. All in all it was a great discovery :)

I took a few pictures of the kids doing what they do around here to keep the gradmothers happy.

As I worked away doing my job (which is going well BTW) Rachel cleaned up the house a great deal and took a few pictures. You can see the front and back of the house as well as the banana bushes growing in the side yard. She also took a few pictures of the clouds that are saving us from the heat for the moment.

She took a load of laundry up the hill to the Bellots and after a few hours came home and cooked dinner. It was a "What we've got" meal, but it was very good.

The rest of the day I spent with relaxing and making phone calls. It may not seem like the most exciting thing in the world, but it's nice to get some rest and talk to the folks back home. Tomorrow may be more exciting, but I doubt it, lol.

  1. Sometimes a slow, rainy day is a good thing. Of course the mention of Sizzlean made me think of my mama and how she always cooked that for you. Thanks for the pictures of the kids and tell Rachel thanks for the pics of the house. Love you all!

  2. I am so tired as I worked at moving stuff all day today. Every time I think I am getting near the end of the huge job I look around and there is more. Lots more to do. I need to figure another place to store it as my shed is getting a bit full. Hopefully I will get to talk to the kids again tomorrow. We brought Spike here today to see how that goes. Not permanent but sort of on a trial basis. I do need to know if he ever got his 2013 Rabies shot and if he is on flea pills or what??????????

Mom Y, I'm sorry there was so much work left behind. We had no idea how much effort it would be and we really appreciate you going to the trouble.Maybe we can reward you with a tropical vacation.
