Summer Sunday?

Well, technically it was a summer Sunday, but it didn't feel much like one to be frank. It's already feeling like early fall and I'm really wondering what this winter is going to be like. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get this game done, make some money, and head back to Dominica for the month of February. I don't know how realistic that is, but I would sure love for it to happen. Right now it looks like it's going to be one cold winter, lol.

Either way, we loaded up and headed to the Aiken Church of Christ this morning. My parents met us there with my oldest two boys. We got to be a whole family for an hour or so. It was really nice. We're ready to get in another house where we can all live under the same roof again. It's not that we couldn't now, it's just not really practical. And really it should only be for a few more days anyway. (Well, it may be a week or two, but Lord willing it won't be that long, lol.)

The service was good and we saw a lot of old friends. I think the older kids had a better time that the younger ones, but that is often the case with Church services. Afterwords Rachel and I went our separate ways. I headed back to the house with the two older girls while Rachel and Mom Y. headed for the Walmart to pick up a few things. I had work to do. Which was one of the reasons I was in a rush. The other was SWTOR (Star Wars The Old Republic) of course.

Work wise I had to handle a couple of writeups. We've decided to run another Kickstarter campaign and wanted to break the news to our current backers gently. We felt certain that most of the community would support the idea, but we want to do our best to make sure that they ALL do by the end. The obvious question is “Why do you need more money?” and the answer is that the project has just gotten a lot bigger than it was when we first started. We've put a great deal into artwork to try and bring it in line with other top ends games. It's going great, but it did blow our first financial estimates out of the water. Still, we have a number of additional funding options and we feel very confident that we're going to get the game put together and that most people are going to be happy with it.

After I had got a little work and a little play done we went to look at a house the Church owns. It looks like we may be able to rent it at a good price for a few months (or until it sells). We took a few pictures.

As you can see it's a beautiful little place. I certainly think it will work for a while at least :)

Moving on to my subject of last night I've got to get back to looking for a publisher. In fact, I've got to pay more attention to finishing what I pick up. I've been rather hit or miss over the course of my career. I start working on one thing or another and sometimes I get bored before I finish. I've got to stop that. It really wastes work. Right now I feel that I really want to be both a writer and game developer. Fortunately those things run hand in hand and you can almost do both simultaneously. I suppose it would be more accurate to say that you can do them on a kind of A/B schedule. I just need to try to line things up where I'm working on a couple of games and a couple of books a year. That way I'll never get bored, lol.

Anyways, that's enough for tonight. Good night from South Carolina!

    1. I hope we can each get a working vehicle soon myself. Still, Rachel and I have been without one for months. We can make it a little longer :)

  3. I'm glad you are still writing your blog. I love reading them. It might be my imagination, but everyone looks so bright eyed and happy and alert...much more so than when you were in Dominica. Being with grandparents can do that! I know all of you are so glad to see one another.

    1. LOL!!! This whole time I though JBellot was you Josian. I would have expected Dilian's to be DBellot. I think I called him "sweet heart" or "dear" at some point. I bet that left him scratching his head, hahahah.

Anyways, I'm glad you can leave comments now. :)
