Sitting Too Much
So today work went INSANE. I sat in the same spot for roughly 9 hours (bathroom breaks and “Honey move this”s aside). My gluteus maximus have gone numb or been filled with pain throughout the day. I don't how many words I've typed, but it's been a lot. A whole lot. A crazy lot. I've spent most of the day trying to calm people's fears and concerns about our new Kickstarter project. In the main the backers have welcomed the idea. In fact, yesterday I thought the whole thing might get under the radar without having any missiles launched at it. Sadly I was wrong.
I woke up to so much e-mail and so many messages that I was working for about three hours just to get caught up to what had been coming in since I started working. Finally I broke through and got a few minutes to build the latest version of Worlds of Magic to do some testing with it. We're planing to release part of it to the public soon so I wanted to take a quick look and see where we were. Well, the way the build process works has changed since I last did it so I fought with that for a few minutes before I emailed the programming team to see if they knew what was up. They did, of course, and a few minutes later I was tinkering on the current build. (That's what these screenshots are of.)
We've got to make some control changes and tweak the camera before we let any of the backers play with it. Right now it's just too difficult to play with. Well... I say difficult. Counter-intuitive might be a better way to put it. Either way, we can't let people play with it yet. I'm hoping we'll be able to before the end of the week. Anyways, I had finally had enough and decided to go for a walk in the woods in MoM Y. and Dad Y.'s yard. For one thing I wanted our friends in Dominica to see a semi-tropical jungle, lol.
That's what we call Spanish Moss. It likes to hang in Ceder trees (which is what the tree covered in Spanish Moss is.)
I have no idea what those purple berries are. They're all over, but I don't know it they're edible. The nut is a Hickory Nut and they taste good except they are impossible to open. I only know what they taste like because as kids we would completely smash them with a hammer and then nibble at the crumbs.
The first two pictures are cactus. They grow all in the woods around here. (And not in the woods really.) If it had been the right time of year beautiful flowers would have been on those green stalks. The third photo is of black raspberry bushes. You can see how tall they are from the fence and they are covered in briars.
After my little break it was time to get back to work again. About an hour after that we ran up to North Augusta to pick up a used washer and dryer. We got them for a very good deal. I don't have any pictures, but they're the old yellow Kenmore brand that used to be so common. They remind me of my Nana and Papa's old pair.
Once we got back I once again got to work. It's almost 7PM now and it's been “all go” today. I really hope that tomorrow is better. Keep me in your prayers. I'm hoping most of this second KS stuff will have blown over and that I'll be able to get some of my normal work done. I also want to find time to start publisher hunting. I really want to see my books printed. That's not going to happen with me just sitting around wishing. I've got to spend some of my spare time (when I get some spare time) working toward that goal.
I feel beat up, knocked down, and worn out. I need to finish eating my dinner and get some relaxing done. So, to that end, I wrapping it up. Goodnight from South Carolina!

Don't get too many irons in the fire. You'll get so worn down you'll end up sick. Anyway, loved the pics. It's kind of neat to be showing Dilian and Josian what SC looks like.
ReplyDeleteYea, "too many irons" is another one of my weaknesses. If I can ever get the money to hire some help they can take some of the more mundane tasks off my hands. Looking for a publisher doesn't really require my attention, it just requires some attention, lol.
DeleteAnd it is neat to show them some of SC. We're going to have to take some vacations just to get pictures to show them :)
Thank you very much! Of course, the look of the game is due to the artists and other programers. The things I do you can't really "see", lol.
