Getting An Education

So, one of the big news items for today is that Alec was almost reported for truancy. It's not a big deal, really, he's not a truant, lol. We just hadn't let the school he used to go to know that he's going to be home schooled with us now. We had to get in touch with the home school association and let them know to let the school know that Alec was enrolled. I'm also planning to go pick up his school records tomorrow. I don't think we'll need them, but it won't hurt to have them. Either way, getting everything all worked out took both Rachel and I about a hour today. That's not too bad, but we weren't expecting that particular interruption today.

The fact is we're just exhausted. We need a few days to recover where we have a very minimal amount of work to do. Today was mainly like that really. I had a few hours worth of work to put in the game, but knocked off before too late. I have still got loads to do, but right now I'm too worn down to do too much. I'm just maintaining, just treading water. Of course, even at that the game is making great progress. We put a new build of the battle board up yesterday and decided what the final features for it were going to be. It took a two hour meeting, but we worked out the details.

I plan to take the rest of the week as off as I can. I've got hours worth of work that I have to do on the game each day and I've got to go to Williston to pick up some stuff (including Alec's records). However, I plan to do the bare minimum. I have to get rested up so I can get my head in the game like I should. There's still a long way to go before we reach the finish line. I need to be firing on all cylinders in order to do that. If that's going to happen I am going to have to get some real rest. It's 3:47PM now. I plan to be in bed watching TV by 5PM if at all possible.

Next week I plan to get up and running at full speed again. That means getting up at 6AM for a start. Also, I need to get back to walking. Once I have my schedule back to normal it should be a lot easier to really focus on Worlds of Magic (and other game ideas I've started tinkering on). It will also be easier to finally start looking for a publisher. I really want to get all my work moving forward, but I've been almost non-stop busy for many, many months now. (Keep in mind that I was working a side business to get the money to go to Dominica before we left.) As soon as this game is complete I intend to take a short vacation, lol. We may even go back to Dominica :)

The pictures are fairly obviously of the house and neighborhood. You can see that we're in a very nice neighborhood (a couple of the neighbors have already introduced themselves) and that we're making progress in homing up the house. I'm too tired to type more, but I feel a lot better than I did yesterday. I suspect that I'll be back up and running like normal by the end of the weekend. Lord willing I will be anyway.

Either way, once again the time has come to say goodnight from South Carolina!

  1. Today was quite a day. I felt really bad all day. Ray brought me some eye drops this evening, and my eyes already feel a little better---no joke. One eye is worse than the other one. That infection has moved to my nose and stopped it up and also given me a sore throat, but I'll live. I hope I feel better tomorrow too! I laid around as much as I possibly could today. Anyway I enjoyed the pictures here on the blog. When I get feeling human again, I can try to help Rachel unpack some if she wants, but usually I always wanted to do that by myself or I wouldn't know where people put my stuff. Love, Mom E.

    1. I hope you get feeling better soon Mom. But Rachel does prefer to unpack by herself in the main, lol.

  2. Hope you feeling better Ms. Ethridge...@Jeremy. However little you typed, I am loving it. The neighborhood looks great. Hey Rachel. I don't get to see you often in pic. People at home and church misses you all and they said hi. Also good news Francisca Dilian's sister has re-dedicated her life back to Christ. Thank God. Good night from Dominica.

    2. Thanks, Josian. I am feeling a little better today. My eyes are better, but I've started coughing and usually once I get a cough, it usually hangs on for months. Congratulations to Dilian's sister, Francisca. That's wonderful news!
