A Slower Pace
So, I've decided I'm not going to try to blog every single day for a while. The fact is that my life is very stable. In the main, we do the same general things from day to day. The kids have school, Rachel deals with the baby and housework, and I do my job. It's all very interesting to us and we wouldn't have it any other way. And really, with seven kids of our own and an eighth living with us, there is always something going on. However, our family is very much like a well oiled machine. As a result there's not a great deal to say about our daily lives. Things go on in much the same vain once we're “up and running” in a location. For years our routine was amazingly predictable in our old house. Now that we're settled in here and we've gotten into our new routine things run along pretty much like clockwork. Now, as wonderful as that is for our family it makes for boring reading. It's not much fun to watch a clock tick, lol.
The first couple of pictures are of some of our unmatched socks and Rachel matching them, lol.
We did have a little variation yesterday. Joey dropped by for a visit. We talked about work for a couple of hours and then hopped on World of Tanks and blew some things up. I kept an eye out for Dilian, but he didn't get on the whole time we were playing. His schedule and mine are just so different that we don't end up on at the same time. Maybe that will change at some point. I'll keep looking for him anyway, lol.
Today Dad E. and I ran down to the Pull-A-Part to grab a tire, a distributor cap, and a rotor button. Thank the Lord we found everything we were looking for in about in twenty minutes. I put the distributor cap and rotor button on today. I hope to get the tire put on tomorrow. Of course, the car is still running really rough, at least once it gets warmed up it is. I think there's a problem with the transmission. I also plan to put some Sea Foam for transmissions in it tomorrow. I'm hoping that will fix it up a bit. It's also a little low on transmission fluid. I don't want to top it off until I put the Sea Foam in though.
Rachel raked a pile of leaves up for the kids to play in this morning. She did that while Dad E. and I were taking the van for a test drive. She also took a few pictures of the kids actually playing in it. The yard is filling up with dead leaves now. I recon in a month or so the trees are going to be bare. Rachel has taken a couple of pictures of the leaves changing. I'm going to try to keep it up so we can show our friends in Dominica the step by step changes. On the one hand it saddens me that I'm going to have to “winter” here, but I'm cheered by the thought that it's probably for the last time :)
Work on the game has been a little sluggish this week. Everyone is just worn down from the Kickstarter campaign. Still, the team is making progress and I intend to really get back to it next week. I know I've said it several times, but I really want to have the design complete before the end of the year. I want to start on some other projects in January. I'm even considering writing another novel about the background lore of Worlds of Magic. I think a book like that could help me “break in” to publishing. Fans are going to want to know about the games lore. If I can get them to buy it in book form I'll finally be a writer. My last “get published” campaign has netted me two more rejections so far. It doesn't shake my confidence. I've personally read worse books, lol. Still, getting a single book published will help me get others published. So, it's a way to use my gaming career to kick off my writing. At this point it's looking like a very attractive option, lol.
Well, that's enough for tonight. I still plan to post frequently, just not everyday. Once we pick up “world traveling” again I'll almost certainly increase my post rate. Either way, for the moment at least, goodnight from South Carolina!

Yea, lol, Caleb had to show everyone what he could do.
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, the picture of Titus really turned out great.
By the way, I found all those pictures you e-mailed me. You sent them to my personal address, which I almost never check.
I'm going to post those soon :)
